PIAT-R Assessment Service The PIAT-R (Peabody Individual Achievement Test-Revised) is an individually administered assessment that evaluates a student's academic achievement in several key areas. The test measures General Information, Reading Recognition, Reading Comprehension, Mathematics, Spelling, and Written Expression. General Information assesses a student's general knowledge and awareness. Reading Recognition measures the ability to identify printed letters and read words aloud, while Reading Comprehension evaluates understanding of written text. The Mathematics section assesses knowledge and application of age-appropriate math concepts and principles, and Spelling measures the ability to spell words correctly. Written Expression varies by grade level, focusing on pre-writing skills for students in Kindergarten through Grade 1 and requiring students in Grades 2–12 to write a short story based on a picture prompt. The assessment is administered orally, with the exception of the Written Expression section, for which students will need a pencil. Parents do not assist during the testing session, allowing the results to accurately reflect the student's independent abilities. The testing session typically takes up to 70 minutes to complete. After the assessment, parents will participate in a personalized review and consultation with Leilani. During this time, Leilani will explain the results, discuss what the scores mean, answer questions, and provide practical suggestions based on your student's strengths and areas of need. She can also help families identify appropriate educational goals and offer ideas for supporting continued academic growth. This consultation is a unique opportunity to gain individualized insight and guidance tailored specifically to your child. The cost of the assessment is $200. This fee includes administration of the PIAT-R, scoring and interpretation of the results, and a 30-minute consultation with Leilani to review the scores and discuss recommendations. Payments are made when you book the appointment.
